What is acrylic signage?
Acrylic is a rigid plastic sheet that can be clear, frosted, coloured or mirrored. For acrylic signage it is cut into letters and logo shapes, or used as a flat panel with your design printed or applied in vinyl. It is light, easy to keep clean and gives a sharp, modern look, which is why acrylic signboards are so common in Malaysian offices and clinics.
Popular acrylic signs
- Acrylic logo and letters on a reception wall. For thick letters with depth, see 3D signboard.
- Acrylic plaques: stand-off panels fixed a few centimetres from the wall with metal spacers, for company names, clinics and opening notices.
- Door, room and directory signs for offices, schools and clinics, often part of a full set of office signage.
- Lit acrylic: acrylic faces for an LED lightbox signboard and backings for neon signs.
Acrylic or stainless steel?
Acrylic gives a glossy, colourful finish at a lower cost and is ideal indoors. Stainless steel signage gives a heavier, premium look and suits outdoor walls and building names. Many reception signs combine both, for example metal letters on an acrylic panel.
